Our Studio

Classes are all run in our studios at 450 Ironbark Road Yarrambat. We love our community - our dancing academy has been the standing primary occupant of this community hall for 40 years. It is home to our two dance-equipped studio rooms with timber floors, barres and mirrors, and an equipped vocal training room. The parent waiting area is fully glassed so parents can view their children in class. While you're waiting, don't forget to check the noticeboard for any news and information.

Performances

One of the most exciting times of the year is the annual concert! Students gain confidence and stage experience, and get to show off the skills they've been building all year. All classes participate in the end of year concert - it's a proud moment to show families the hard work of our students and teachers.

Exams

We encourage eligible students to complete exams under the Comdance syllabi. Linda Jean Dancing Academy is a member of Comdance (formerly CSTD) - a world-class dance association and examining body, founded in Australia in 1933.

Working towards exams helps students improve technique, and build self-discipline to practice and focus on their goal. Exams are held for tap, performing arts, classical ballet and modern jazz dance styles. Students can progress through exam levels, culminating in a formal dance teaching diploma qualification.

Costumes

Our mission is to make performance time exciting for students, but as easy as possible for parents. We take pride in our beautiful designs which make our students feel extra special for their special performance. Using a dedicated dressmaker and offering self-sewing options for parents, costume costs are kept to a minimum.

Uniforms

Wearing a uniform helps students focus on the lesson, feel like they are part of a team, and have unrestricted movement. Uniform requirements are based on students' age, level and dance style. At LJDA we have our own personally designed fabric made into tops, leggings, shorts, leotards, jackets, etc. Everyone feels very special coming to classes. Hair should be neatly tied back.

Child Safety

Linda Jean Dancing Academy is committed to the safety of children and has a zero tolerance approach to all forms of harm. We want our children to be happy and safe, and to feel supported and respected. All allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously. Contact our Child Safety Officer Linda McLellan (Principal) to discuss any concerns. Always phone 000 if you believe a child is at immediate risk of abuse.
